SciShield Seminar Home

SciShield is a comprehensive platform used across UMD, including at IBBR, for laboratory project registration and IBC approval. However, due to the complexity of the system and the lack of specific guidance available to help PIs understand IBC expectations during project registration, it is not uncommon for projects to require significant clarification and revision during the review process. This could create unnecessary workload and delays for PIs' IBC project approvals.

To improve communication and address questions about SciShield, the Office of Biosafety is conducting seminars to clarify specific expectations from the IBC and Biosafety team, provide a broader overview of the IBC registration and approval process, improve researchers’ understanding of SciShield navigation and compliance expectations, and hear feedback and concerns from the research community regarding biosafety-related issues.

PIs, Lab Managers, and other senior research staff can click here to rfegister for the seminar. If you have any questions, please contact Evan Rabinowitsch: rabineg@umd.edu or x6360
