Daniel Nelson Named Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors

We are proud to congratulate Dr. Daniel Nelson, IBBR Fellow and Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maryland, College Park, on being elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). This prestigious honor is one of the highest professional distinctions awarded to academic inventors. Dr. Nelson’s internationally recognized research focuses on harnessing and engineering bacteriophage-derived enzymes - called endolysins - as innovative alternatives to traditional antibiotics. His work spans human and animal health, biodefense, and biotechnology, exemplifying the kind of interdisciplinary, translational research that is central to IBBR’s mission.
