Dr. Gregory Payne Honored with Guest Professorship at Wuhan University

Gregory Payne from the University of Maryland’s Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research and Fischell Department of Bioengineering was honored with a Guest Professorship through the School of Resource and Environmental Science at Wuhan University.  Wuhan University is ranked in the top 10 of universities in China and is located in the intellectually rich city of Wuhan which has the third highest concentration of universities in China. The Committee Chair Xiao-Rong Chen and Vice President Qing-Yun Du  presided over the ceremony on March 7, 2013 that recognized Dr. Payne’s research accomplishments in creating of high performance materials from renewable natural resources.  The University of Maryland is ranked 13th among US public universities by the Institute of Higher Education (Jiao Tong University, Shanghai).  This three year appointment is expected to further strengthen the strong scientific collaborations between Wuhan University and the University of Maryland.
