Dr. S. Saif Hasan Promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure

We are pleased to congratulate IBBR Fellow Dr. S. Saif Hasan on his promotion to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Since joining IBBR in 2019, Dr. Hasan has established an internationally recognized research program focused on understanding the structural mechanisms underlying virus-host interactions and intracellular protein trafficking. His laboratory combines cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, and biophysical approaches to reveal how viruses hijack cellular transport pathways and how these processes can be targeted to advance antiviral therapies and vaccine development.

His work has produced important advances in the structural biology of coronaviruses and other emerging viral pathogens, while contributing to a broader understanding of membrane protein biology and intracellular trafficking.

In addition to his research accomplishments, he is a valued mentor to students and postdoctoral fellows and an active collaborator within the IBBR community and beyond. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Hasan on this well-deserved achievement.
